Our Scholars
The Litoro Foundation’s primary goal is to help young scholars work towards their career dreams through high quality educational opportunities. As such, one of the first questions we ask our scholars is what their dreams are – their answers can be found beneath their respective names below:

Liyabona Meyeiseli
Oaklands HS → Future IT Specialist

Liyabona spends all of his spare time working hard for an internet café in his community, which has inspired him to strive to be an IT specialist. His goal for South Africa is to eradicate racism by bringing diverse communities of people together. Litoro Foundation hopes to use its Mentorship Programme to encourage Liyabona to make both of these dreams a reality.

Asa Ndabeni
Oaklands HS → Future Doctor

Asa is an intelligent and hard-working individual who takes pride in her school work and loves to learn. In her free time, she enjoys reading as well as playing and listening to music. She plays the violin and recorder and always makes time for the theory aspect of her music too. She always looks forward to learning new things and helping others which is why one day, she would like to become a doctor. Asa says that her role model is her mother.

Frank Siyanda Matiwane
Oaklands HS → Future Electrical Engineer

After many years of looking up to his uncle who was the first in his family to go to university, Frank’s dream is to study Electrical Engineering. He is therefore a keen mathematician and natural scientist who enjoys drawing in his free time. Frank is working towards solving two problems in his community: littering and poverty.

Tererai Mudzudzu

Tererai is a natural creative with a passion for art and dancing. With her LitoroConnect Scholarship, she aims to improve her marks while fighting pollution in South Africa. Unlike any of our other scholars, Tererai does not have a role model. “I want to be my own person”, she exclaim

Lucian is a hardworking and driven academic with a striking creative flair. He loves spending his free time on all sorts of arts, crafts and DIY projects. He has a strong interest in business and plans on studying accounting and business in the near future.

Endinalo Nkqayi
Oaklands HS Future → Forensic Scientist

Endinalo is inspired by Arts and Crafts and poetry, and she loves drawing, singing, reading and dancing. She has a zest for science and hopes to one day be a Forensic Scientist. Just as she puts her all into her school work, she excels on the netball court, soccer field and is a whizz in the kitchen as well. With her kind and gentle soul, she has an affinity for helping people, and loves to help out wherever and whenever she can.

Janica Michaels
Steenberg HS → Future Forensic Scientist

Janica is a keen reader and writer, who excels at both of these things. When she is not engaged in literature, she enjoys cooking too. Her end goal is to become a forensic scientist and therefore aims high academically in order to make this possible. Another dream of hers is to travel the world and publish a book- which she aims to do once she has started working. Ambitious and enthusiastic, Janica is going far!

Kelly Jacobs
Steenberg HS → Future Scientist/Fashion Guru

Kelly is a brilliant musician and academic with a dream of becoming either a scientist or a fashion designer. She could therefore speak for hours about her fashion icon and role model, Marc Jacobs. What she speaks more about, however, is her desire to alleviate poverty in South Africa – something that she believes she will be able to do with the assistance of Litoro Foundation.

Jody Everson
Steenberg HS → Future Entrepreneur

Jody is a driven, innovative and creative student and entrepreneur. He has developed a successful clothing brand and graphic design platform and has blown me away as a mentor by his sheer determination to learn and progress. On top of being extremely disciplined when it comes to his schoolwork, Jody has applied himself in linguistics, by taking up Latin and Russian in his own time. His progression and commitment to his craft, cadets and schoolwork is a testament to the benefits of optimism and faith of which he values whole-heartedly. He’s an extremely jovial young man with a modest attitude and the keen ability to motivate himself.

Brady Maree

An ambitious young man, Brady’s goal this year is to place top 10 in his grade and play in one of the biggest under 16 soccer tournaments in South Africa. His favourite subjects are mathematics and economics, and he is an energetic and positive person who enjoys a challenge. Brady’s biggest inspirations and role models are his brothers.

Roshaan Allie
Steenberg HS → Future Accountant

Although Rashaan’s dream is to become a chartered accountant, she is passionate about helping children in South Africa and so aims to include working with children in whatever she does. This passion of hers was discovered during her many years of work in her mother’s crèche. When Rashaan is not busy helping children, she is on the rugby field or practising the flute.

Sajida Hudson
Garlandale HS → Future Lawyer

At the time of her LitoroConnect interview, Sajida was one of the most driven pupils we had ever met. She aims “not to get just a Bachelor’s or an Honours in Law, but a Master’s” and in doing so, be the first person in her family to receive a tertiary education. In order to do so, Sajida spends almost all of her time working on her academics but manages to fit in dancing and cooking, which are two of her hobbies. Sajida’s goal for giving back to the community is to fight racism through educational diversity programmes.

Carla Abrahams
Garlandale HS → Forensic Scientist/Lawyer

Carla is a very outgoing and friendly young woman with an inquisitive mind. She is a persevering and determined student and hopes to one day follow a career in either forensic science or criminal law. With the help of the Litoro Foundation, Carla will undoubtedly succeed in whichever career path she chooses to follow.

Mihla Mazolwana
Garlandale HS → Future Neuroscientist/Writer

Mihla is a spunky and driven individual who enjoys all her school subjects. Her favourite subject is English, namely due to the fact that she reads absolutely everything and anything she can get her hands on. She adores Jane Austen’s books, due to the author’s “ability to transform the reader to the 1800s,” she explains. Mihla partakes in a wide variety of hobbies that include dancing, record playing and her current new interest – chess! She dreams of one day becoming a writer or neuroscientist and hopefully Litoro can help her achieve her goals!.

Abbey Mopp

She also enjoys working with people and children and has her eyes set on becoming a child psychologist one day so she can help children. In her spare time she enjoys singing.

Prince is passionate about Natural Sciences and Mathematics which has driven his unwavering determination to pursue his dream of becoming an electrical engineer. He enjoys being part of the Wynberg Choir, the Art Club, the Computer Club and an array of sports. Prince has also expressed a humble appreciation for the academic stimulation with which Wynberg has provided him, particularly in giving him a firm fluency in the English language despite having grown up speaking his home language, Shona.
